WHAT IS CSR?
CSR policy functions as a built-in, self-regulating mechanism whereby business monitors and ensures its active compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards, and international norms. The goal of CSR is to embrace responsibility for the company’s actions and encourage a positive impact through its activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of the public sphere. Furthermore, CSR-focused businesses would proactively promote the public interest (PI) by encouraging community growth and development, and voluntarily eliminating practices that harm the public sphere, regardless of legality. CSR is the deliberate inclusion of Public Interest into corporate decision-making, that is the core business of the company or firm, and the honouring of a triple bottom line: people, planet, profit.
You would find some fabulous CSR statements by huge company’s on their website and official documents. More than what they want to do with the issues picked up in their articles, they are interested in just showing the world that they care. Sporticus is a very young and small company and perhaps does not even need a CSR statement at this stage. But we actually hold all those issues very close to our heart and we cannot detach from these issue.
We are very eager in making a real difference to our World. Although we are a growing business, we always remember that world’s biggest name like Nike, Puma, Adidas also once started with a small base. At Sporticus we believe that it’s the forward thinking and Visionary leadership that takes a company to reach new heights. Therefore we are even at this stage of our corporate life thinking about all these issues very seriously, which big companies started thinking after years of their foundation.
We have several plans to put a part of our profit back to where it is actually initiated from. Manufacturing is a process where value is added to product by each step of completion. We therefore want to take these shares of profit to help them grow. £1 sterling might not do much in UK but for a struggling family of our football stitching team £1 (£1= 140 rupees) means a lot more.
We really want to leave a legacy behind. World has still not forgotten the child labour issues surrounding Nike. However we believe in finding the root cause of the problem. Children in developing countries are sent to work because their parents can not earn much to feed them and give a good life. Whoever if a parent is earning enough, they will never force their child to work. We therefore have great attention towards our supplier’s code of ethics and practice. We ensure that none of our Supplier is using labour of innocent hands or paying below minimum wage rate. Our suppliers are sitting in part of the world which has its reputation as the best sports good manufacturers. This reputation has been maintained from a very long time and a good working conditions and aspiration is also what makes them what they are.
Our future plans revolving around CSR include, bringing more awareness about the carbon foot print, educational projects and better health facilities. We initially have plans of using paper packaging (RECYCLABLE) for most of our products.
